Yellow River - Cooinda

Today we started the day at Mirrai Lookout a very steep 1.6km walk.

We then went to Cooinda Gagudju Lodge - Home of the Yellow Water for lunch before looking through theWarradjan Cultural Centre. It was then time to go for our sunset Yellow Water River Cruise. Yellow Water Billabong is Kakadu's most famous wetland at the end of Jim Jim River, a tributary of the Alligator River. The river system which is the largest in Kakadu, contains extensive wetlands that include river channels, floodplains and backwater swamps.

This is the level of the water in wet season.

This is a Jabiru.

A Sacred Kingfisher.

After an absolutely amazing cruise the sun set over the river and floodplains which was extraordinary. The most amazing day here in Kakadu.
