Port Augusta

Today we arrived at Port Augusta - ready for our adventure up through the Centre!!

We started the day watching the sunrise above the Cobar mine.

We traveled along the Barrier Highway for about 5 hours and there was only a bend in the road about every hour an incredibly straight road. There was water lying on the sides of the road in various places due to the wet weather recently. Here there was huge numbers of different birds.

Just before we started to drive through the Flinders Ranges we saw this huge Red Gum at Ororroo which was 11 metres around the circumference.

We are amazed at the number of houses that are built with corrugated iron sheeting, they must be absolutely freezing in winter and boiling in summer.
