Hamilton Island Day 2

By Kevin:  Today we slept in and after getting out of bed around 8am and a couple of cups of coffee I headed off to Passage Peak - a moderate come challenging come steep walk for 3km. Here some of the photos I took:

I returned to the unit and Lee-Anne had taken our golf buggy and procured fresh salad rolls for lunch. After lunch I took her for a walk along the beach.

She got all clever with this little shot of the lovely water.

 And finally a shot from our balcony as the sun got lower.

Upper Daintree - Mossman Gorge

Today we drove to the Daintree Village and had lunch.

We then went for a drive through Upper Daintree which was the prettiest area, so green and lush.

We then went to Mossman Gorge and found that it had been revamped and commercialised to care for the local indigenous people. You must park now in a large carpark 2.5km from the gorge and be bused to the old carpark area. You then go on new modern boardwalks above the forest floor and have the option of taking the extended 2km rainforest walk which is just lovely. However you now only see a glimpse of the gorge and the old amount of the rainforest, all the old wooden boardwalks along the side of the river and gorge have been removed and you no longer even go into the gorge to the same extent. Very disappointing when this use to in my opinion be the No 1 nature must see of the Far North Queensland area. 

Hamilton Island

Today we boarded our water shuttle at Airlie Beach to go to Hamilton Island.

Once on the island we were given a golf buggy for transport around the island to have an explore until our room was ready.

We are staying in Hibiscus 204 Unit which is very spacious and has wonderful views out over the sea to the other islands from our second floor balcony.

We then made our way to the Sails Terrace for lunch by the pool.

Bowen

Today we spent in Bowen - my personal favourite place in Queensland. We are staying right on the tipof Horseshoe Bay with this private beach off our unit and then the public beach off the other side of the motel complex. Absolutely surrounded by water and what water it is.

We then drove around to Rose Bay another absolutely beautiful beach.

We then went to Flagstaff Hill to look out over the Bowen area. This is Gloucester Island.

We then returned home and had drinks by the water listening to the lapping water before ordering room service and having dinner on our balcony watching this glorious sunset.

I could seriously live here and be very happy.
